BENEFITS OF BETTER SLEEP

Faster Learning

Sleep acts like a ‘save’ button for your brain, helping you absorb and retain new information. Research from Harvard found that students who get quality sleep learn new skills 20% faster than those running on fumes.

Sharper Memory

Getting enough sleep helps your brain file away information like a supercomputer. Studies show that students who sleep 7-9 hours improve memory recall by up to 40%, making late-night cram sessions more impactful after you drift off.

Stress Sheild

Sleep is your built-in stress buffer. Well-rested students have lower levels of cortisol (the stress hormone), making them 30% more resilient in high-pressure situations, like exams or presentations.

Peak Performance

Whether you’re writing an essay or shooting hoops, sleep is fuel. A Stanford study found that students who slept 10 hours a night ran faster, reacted quicker, and performed better.

Creativity Boost

Great ideas don’t come from exhaustion. Studies show that a well-rested brain is 60% better at making unexpected connections—turning everyday thoughts into breakthrough ideas. Sleep isn’t downtime; it’s an upgrade.

“The secret to sleep isn’t forcing yourself to do it—it’s getting your brain to stop fighting against it. Given the opportunity, your body will do what it needs.”

~ Adrien Sala, WikiSleep Founder

WikiSleep was created by award-winning writer and producer Adrien Sala, born out of his own struggles with sleep. Like so many others, he wrestled with insomnia—his mind racing at night with financial worries, work stress, relationships and even those small, lingering embarrassments that resurface at the worst times. Sleep felt just out of reach, no matter how tired he was.

In his search for relief, Adrien turned to podcasts. Engaging stories helped distract his restless mind, allowing his body to naturally drift into sleep. But the jarring interruptions—ads, sudden volume shifts—kept pulling him back awake. The very thing that was supposed to help was working against him.

Determined to create a better solution, Adrien combined his experience as a writer and producer with his deep understanding of mindfulness. Having practiced meditation extensively in his 20s—including Vipassana retreats in Nepal and India and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) courses in Canada—he knew how powerful focused attention could be in calming the mind. He used that knowledge to shape WikiSleep: a sleep tool built on the simple yet effective idea of diversion therapy.

While traditionally utilized in clinical settings, this therapeutic approach is increasingly being recognized for its potential benefits related to sleep. Sleep struggles often begin in the mind—with spiraling thoughts, stress, racing to-do lists and any number of concerns that prevent you from calming down to sleep.

By redirecting focus into calming stories, one can help quiet busy thinking—and the secret to sleep isn’t forcing yourself to concentrate on sleep—it’s getting your brain to stop fighting against it. Given the opportunity, your body will do what it needs.

As the creator, Adrien oversees nearly every aspect of WikiSleep, with support from a small team of talented developers and narrators. His goal? To make falling asleep feel natural again—no stress, no overthinking, just rest.
